On Tuesday evening, Staveley Miners Welfare send their Reserves side over for a game which finished in a 1-1 draw. The Trojans took the lead and should have extended that with a penalty, but the ball went high and sailed over the crossbar. Teversal were also awarded a spot kick, but Kurtis Bamford's strike was superbly saved by the Staveley keeper. Late on in the game Matt (Kinney) Wilkinson came up with an equaliser for the home side.
Both the Senior side and the Reserves had games on Saturday - The seniors travelled up to Parkgate for our annual pre-season match, while the Reserves hosted Clipstone FC U21s at Carnarvon Street.
The game in Rotherham ended in a goalless draw, both side created chances but couldn't find the breakthrough. Parkgate did have the ball in the net twice but the linesman's flag save Teversal on both occasions and Teversal were unlucky to see a cracking shot strike the crossbar.
Meanwhile at Carnarvon Street, the young Clipstone side were holding the Reserves until a long range free kick from Craig Newton found the top corner around the half hour mark, and that's the way the game stayed. 1-0 to Teversal FC.
Being a bit short of players, due to holidays, Teversal drafted in four of last season's U16s onto the bench to give the lads a bit of senior experience.
