...but will host the competition's Final later this month.

The postponement of the Baris Under 19s League Mini-Shield game with Ilkeston FC means that Teversal FC will take no further part in this season's competition.

A message received from Teversal FC Secretary, Kevin Newton, says; "Due to tonight's cancellation of the game with Ilkeston FC, the Under 19s are now out of the Mini-Shield, as the games with Ilkeston FC and Pinxton FC cannot be arranged in time for the quarter-finals to be played next week".

As well as the Under 19s league fixture (against Handsworth FC) next week, to progress in the competition Teversal would have to fit in (and win) the two outstanding group games, a quarter final and semi-final within the space of two weeks. Five games is just too many for the young squad, plus there are numerous first team and reserve team fixtures left to fit in too before the end of the month.

Kev Newton confirmed that Brian Bradley(League Fixtures Secretary) telephoned him and informed him that a discussion had been had with some of the Leagues Management Board and that they agreed to remove us from the competition. Kev raised his concerns with Brian, plus asked the question what would have happened if we had played and beat Ilkeston, as the league hadn't scheduled our game with Pinxton. Unfortunately Brian didn't answer that question and it appeared had we played and won we still would have been removed. Therefore we are left with no road forward due to the time constraint on this competition.

As a club we are extremely disappointed and feel let down and feel for the players and management team of the Under 19s, in this very disappointing decision that we was not even consulted over.

However, even though we will take no further part in the competition in which we were finalists last season, it will not be the club's last foray with the Mini-Shield this season as Teversal FC will be hosting the Final of the competition on Tuesday 24th April. Which really leaves us with a bitter sweet feeling on the whole sad affair.
