TEVIE TOURNY GAME 5 : UNLUCKY SNIPES

3 years ago By Keith Parnill

Sutton Town AFC were unlucky not to make it through to the Tevie Tournament Final after a goalless draw against Staveley Miners Welfare, going out on penalties.

A crowd of 68 turned out at Carnarvon Street on a lovely evening (that is - No Rain!) for the first semi-final of the Teversl Tournament, and were witness to an entetaining game of football that saw near-neighbours Sutton Town take NCEL Premier Division side Staveley Miners Welfare all the way.
Sutton battled all the way, but the lottery of the penalty shoot-out was called upon to settle the tie.
The first seven spot kicks were converted but Sutton's Dean Sweeney put the eighth wide, leaving Staveley to bury their final kick to take the game 5-3 and through to the final for the second consecutive season.

A plethora of bloggere were in attendance at the games and the results of their work can be found on the links below...
