It was an excellent weekend for the Toolstation NCEL in the Buildbase FA Vase as nine sides claimed a place in Monday's Second Round draw...

...along with Cleethorpes Town who enter the competition at that stage this season.

In the First Round's only all-NCEL tie, Pickering Town narrowly went through with a 1-0 win at Bridlington Town on Sunday, Lewis Taylor with the winner from the penalty spot two minutes from injury time.

The other ten games involving our sides were all played on Saturday with victories on their travels for AFC Mansfield, Hall Road Rangers, Hallam, Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Worksop Town.

Mansfield were 2-0 winners at Holwell Sports with Jake Nicholson and Gary Bradshaw netting in the second half whilst Rangers beat hosts Congleton Town, 3-2, courtesy of a Christopher Spinks hat-trick.

James Reed grabbed the winner for Hallam as they beat Runcorn Town, 2-1, Hemsworth progressed by a single goal at Kirby Muxloe, Jed Wilkinson with the vital strike, and Worksop Town bounced back from conceding in the opening minute at Malvern Town to win 2-1 with goals from Mitcham Husbands and Connor Brunt.

There were home victories, meanwhile, for AFC Emley who, thanks to strikes from Matthew Jackson, Thomas Brennan and Ashley Flynn, dispatched Chadderton 3-1, and for Bottesford Town who won 2-0 against Haughmond thanks to Daniel Boulton and Louis Grant.

Meanwhile, Shaun Nesbitt and Adam Lee got on the scoresheet for Staveley Miners Welfare as they went through at the expense of Pinxton who they beat 2-0.

Despite a hat-trick from Samuel Denton, Handsworth Parramore bowed out of the competition with a 4-3 home loss to Shepshed Dynamo whilst Penistone Church were also eliminated as visitors Sherwood Colliery defeated them, 2-1.

In the Premier Division, all of the top three leading sides won to open up a gap between themselves and the chasing pack.

Cleethorpes Town continue to head the field as Liam Davis and Jack Richardson's first half goals earned them a 2-1 win at Retford United who pulled one back in the second period through Liam Wood.

The Owls maintain a two point lead ahead of second placed Liversedge who won 1-0 at home to Clipstone, Stephen Wales netting in the 32nd minute.

A further two points behind in third are Thackley who beat hosts Armthorpe Welfare, 2-0, with Daniel Broadbent and Ryan Farrell getting their names on the scoresheet in the second half.

Sports move up to fourth, four points behind the top three, after a 3-3 draw at Parkgate, Joshua Moore scoring a hat-trick for the bottom placed hosts whilst Asif Hussain and Stephen Smith scored for the Lions as they fought back from 3-1 down at the hour mark.

Athersley Recreation, who would have gone sixth with a victory, stay ninth after goals from Lee Turner and Mitchell Hamilton condemned them to a 2-0 home loss to Garforth Town.

Harrogate Railway Athletic had the division's biggest win as they beat visitors Maltby Main, 5-1, whilst a Julian Topliss double helped Rainworth Miners Welfare to a 3-2 home victory over Barton Town Old Boys.

Pontefract Collieries close to within a point of Division One leaders Penistone after Michael Dunn got both of their goals in a 2-1 win at home to Rossington Main and they climb to second above Winterton Rangers who went down 2-1 to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, the away side snatching all three points with an injury time Dean Shirt goal.

Grimsby Borough and Knaresborough Town played out a goalless draw to leave them two points off the top in sixth and fifth position, respectively, whilst Campion move up to seventh after a Eli Hey hat-trick put them well on the way to a 5-1 win at Brigg Town.

Selby Town drop to eighth as they lost 4-0 at Ollerton Town, Joshua Bowkett grabbing a double as the home side picked up a fine victory.

And, Eccleshill United have fallen to eighth as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Shirebrook Town with all three goals coming from the penalty spot, Luke Harrop for the Eagles and Matthew Langley converting both of those given to the visitors.

Shirebrook's win leaves basement side Nostell Miners Welfare now six points adrift after their 3-2 home loss to Dronfield Town whilst the rest of the division's matches saw Glasshoughton Welfare win 2-0 at Westella & Willerby and Teversal held to a 2-2 draw at Carnarvon Street by Yorkshire Amateur.
