TEVERSAL 0-3 AYLESTONE PARK
“The Best Side On The Night Takes The Points”
After an exceptional home game start to life in the East Midlands Counties League, Teversal was brought back down to earth by an Aylestone Park who are by far the best side the Tevie Boys have faced this season.
Aylestone controlled the game from start to finish and it was their work rate and doing the basics well that saw them control the game. Teversal however did contribute to their own downfall with a lacklustre showing and a return to the direct approach as they run out of ideas on how to compete with Aylestone.
It took until the 23rd minute for Aylestone to turn their dominance into an advantage. Having forced a number of opportunities that the host managed to contain with Josh Turton making a couple of routine saves. The goal came from a corner that arrived at the far post for Neat to powerfully head an effort that Josh Turton superbly saved but Potter was on hand to drill home the loose ball from six yards.
With Chris Acott causing the host loads of problems down the left flank it was a surprise that Teversal managed to keep the score at 1-0 at the break.
If a true reflection of the game wasn’t had at half time it was within a minute of the restart. Potter had been substituted by Andy Fell to make an immediate impact with an exquisite lob over the advanced Turton.
In total control of the game Aylestone built on the solid foundations that the centre defence pairing of Lang and Neat gave dealing with the direct approach of the Tevie boys.
On 51 minutes Luke Bacon received his second yellow card to make it even harder for Teversal to get back in a game that they had been second best in. So when the score board notched over to 3-0 on 62 minutes when Fell scored his second it was pretty much game, set and match to the visitors.
The fact the Tevie Boys didn’t collapse was a true test of character that was a real plus to take from the game. The question is how they respond to back to back loses and having to wait over a week to put this behind them.
