CLIFTON ALL WHITES 2 - 1 TEVERSAL FC

"A Well-Earned Point Cruelly Snatched Away"

The ninety-third minute of any game is a cruel time to lose a football match but Teversal had a well-earned point taken from them as Tyrelle Shannon-Lewis fired home to snatch all three points for the home side deep into injury time sending the Tevie Boys to their second away defeat in four days. The only good point to come from the day is that the other two teams level on points in the table, Blaby & Whetstone and Anstey Nomads, also suffered defeats on Saturday too.
Clifton's Connor Hardy struck to put the home side into the lead on six minutes and from then on Teversal were up against it, trying to get back level and hopefully secure a much needed victory following Wednesday night's defeat at the hands of Kimberley Miners Welfare.
The best of the Tevie Boy's chances fell to Josh Radford, beating the offside trap his strike on goal was a poor one which the Clifton custodian collected easily.
The Curse of the Referee's Observer struck again with a flurry of yellow cards for petty challenges took the pace out of the game.
Teversal finally got back into the game when substitute Aaron Pride sent over a perfectly weighted cross field ball to Dave Cockerill. He sent the square ball into the area for Josh Radford to slam the ball home from just inside the penalty area. 1-1.
Both side had their chances to claim the game but the home side struck right at the death, but not before Clifton's Nathan Kelly received a straight red card for a nasty challenge.
A worrying trend for the Tevie management team must be the current batch of yellow cards that the Tevie Boys are receiving - four on Wednesday and another six today.
The next game for Teversal is a Friday night fixture away at Holbrook Sports (Friday 3rd November with a 7.45pm kick off)
