The biggest contributors were BORROWASH VICTORIA, who won 6-3 at RADFORD with Mark Green claiming, somewhat surprising considering all the goals, only the second hat-trick of the day. Kirk Francis put Vics in front, Mark Green then grabbed his first on 38 minutes, from the penalty spot, and Jake Morris pulled one back for Radford all inside the first twenty minutes. Green and Simeon Lawrence then gave Vics a 4-1 half-time advantage. Joe Meakin pulled two back, both from the penalty spot before Joshua Ross made it 5-3 and Mark Green completed his threesome.
Plenty of goals at STAPENHILL as well where the home side lost their 100% record as super sub Tim Berridge claimed the days’ other hat-trick in sixteen second half minutes for DUNKIRK. Steve Chaplin had put the Boatmen ahead on 18 minutes and it took until the 77th minute for Ash Garner to restore pairty. Chris Rumin got Stapenhill’s second with four minutes remaining to make the final score 2-4.
Eight more goals at GEDLING MINERS WELFARE where the home side went down 5-3 to AYLESTONE PARK. Ryan Foster, Kieran Neat and Chris Aycott gave Park a three goal advantage inside the first 18 minutes. Goals from Jack Jepson and John Knight brought things closer midway through the second half before Lee Tyers re-opened the two goal gap from the penalty spot as spot kicks all round seemed to be the order of the day. Ashley Whitt got another back but within a minute Zak Yusuf had made it 5-3.
WEST BRIDGFORD made a winning start to their League campaign with a 4-2 win at CLIFTON ALL WHITES. Jack Gray and Amadu Jollah each scored twice with Niall O’Rafferty and Corby Brown scoring for the Whites to send the teams in level at the break.O’Rafferty and one of Gray’s goals both came from the penalty spot.
KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE saw off visiting RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC in style with Tom Dale on 25 minutes, Ryan Tittensor four minutes later and Jordan Richardson on 40 minutes to give them a handsome interval advantage. Sean Green and Ryan Bowen hit second half goals as the Brewers won 5-0.
Joy at last for GRAHAM STREET PRIMS who recorded their first win of the season at the third attempt. Josh Walmsley gave them the lead on twenty minutes and Kurt Dallison doubled the home advantage fifteen minutes later. After Oliver Ball had been sent off with five minutes remaining Prims had to dig in hard to retain the points. Matt Wilkinson got a goal back for visiting TEVERSAL two minutes into stoppage time but Prims held on in a thrilling finish for their first win of the campaign.
HOLBROOK SPORTS advanced to the dizzy heights of third place in this early League table thanks to a 2-0 win over the Eagles of ARNOLD TOWN at Eagle Valley. Late goals from Sam Griffiths and substitute Jorge Eley gave them the points after Arnold’s Joshua Watts was sent off leaving them to finish the game with ten men. Two wins from three games suggests that the Brookies will not be involved in a relegation fight this term, but they will be concerned that both of their wins have come away from home whilst there only defeat the season has come in front of their own fans at Shaw Lane.
ASHBY IVANHOE got over their midweek abandoned game due to floodlight failure with a resounding 5-1 win over HOLWELL SPORTS. Joshua Johnson gave them a fifth minute advantage, but Ryan Page levelled for Sports twelve minutes later. Jordan McCourt restored home advantage just before the break and three goals in an eight minute spell early in the second half from Jordan Johnson, Mitchell Woodbine and Anjrs Blair-Park completed the rout.
Wayne Cooke sent newcomers SELSTON on their way with a third minute goal at BARROW TOWN. Zak Ginvert levelled quickly but Sean Gregory restored the Nottingham side’s advantage ten minutes before the break. New signing Keenan Layton from Heanor Town extended the lead and completed the victory with a third Selston goal on 68 minutes to continue with their 100% start to the season.
Goals from Ethan Bibby on 67 minutes and Ash Way on 75 gave BIRSTALL UNITED a winning start to the season in their away game at BELPER UNITED, whilst ANSTEY NOMADS almost caused the day’s biggest comeback with two late goals having gone behind by 3-0 in their game at BLABY & WHETSTONE ATHLETIC. A brace from Tom Hill, one in each half, and one from the penalty spot, and a 65th minute goal from Toby Warner had appeared to put Blaby in the driving season. Then James Ireland got one back for the nomads on 73 minutes and twelve minutes later Tom Mangan rifled in a second to make it a tense finish but there were no further goals.
