RADFORD came close to joining four other clubs from our League in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, but lost it right at the death.
TEVERSAL extended their good start to the season after their close season transfer across the Pyramid from the Northern Counties East League with a 3-0 home win which condemned BLABY & WHETSTONE ATHLETIC to their first reverse of the season.

They were well worth their replay chance against United Counties League side Boston Town and once again ended the first ninety minutes level pegging thanks to Simon Hore’s 85th minute leveller. Extra time failed to separate the teams although they both scored again to end at 2-2, Ryan Smith getting the home goal. Boston triumphed as the game went to penalties by a 4-3 scoreline.
In the League, three teams lost for the first time, and two others retained their 100% start to the season, but, perhaps, the most unlikely name at the top of the pile after this third week of games is HOLBROOK SPORTS. Their latest triumph was a 6-0 thrashing of RADCLIFFE OLYMPIC at Shaw Lane with Sam Griffiths and Josh Williams giving them a good start inside the first twenty minutes. Four goals in eleven minutes midway through the second half from Luke Tozer, Kyle Hazeldine and a brace from Jorge Eley made the final score catastrophic. The Nottingham visitors have scored only one league goal in four games this season and conceded 19. They have now gone 333 minutes without a goal since Julian Joachim scored in their first game of the season.
No such problems for BIRSTALL UNITED who brought newly-promoted SELSTON down to earth for the first time this season and at the same time retained their own 100% start to the campaign. Ashley Way scored twice before the break and Adam Boulter and Jake Robertson added second half goals to a 4-0 win. Selston were not helped when Grant Hackett was shown a red card on 42 minutes leaving them to play more than half the game with ten men, but they were already two goals in arrears at the time of his dismissal.
Similar happenings at Lenton Lane where DUNKIRK extended their 100% start to the season with a good 4-1 win over neighbours WEST BRIDGFORD. Tim Berridge, Steve Chaplin and Tom Maddison had all found the net for the Boatmen with the game barely half an hour old. Berridge added a fourth ten minutes from the end. Joshua Kwadu got West Bridgford’s consolation goal from the penalty spot and that was as good as it got for them.
GRAHAM STREET PRIMS lost for the third time this season when they visited ARNOLD TOWN. The Eagles raced into a storming start with Jourdan Blair scoring after just four minutes and Jawanza Grant adding a second seven minutes later. Blair got a third on 63 minutes to finally take the game away from the brave Prims who did manage a consolation effort from Kevin Morrow five minutes before the final whistle.
There were more than a few cheers at GEDLING MINERS WELFARE as they grabbed a 2-0 home win over visiting promoted side CLIFTON ALL WHITES. The Miners didn’t have much to cheer about last season but have made a more positive start to this campaign and welcomed the three points given to them by goals from Ryan Plummer on 16 minutes and Alex Clarson on 62.
HOLWELL SPORTS twice took the lead against visiting ANSTEY NOMADS but couldn’t hold on for the points. Kieran Foster gave them the perfect start with a goal after five minutes, but Sam Marshall levelled for Anstey twelve minutes later. Ryan Page put Sports back in front five minutes before the break, but once again the Nomads came back with a Tom Mangan equaliser just after the hour. Ten minutes from the end James Ireland claimed all three points for the visitors who have made a most positive start to the season.
