ANSTEY NOMADS remain in the top three and with title aspirations after coming back from a 3-2 defeat to Midland League side Heather St Johns in the semi-final of the Jelson Holmes Leicestershire and Rutland FA Cup with a 5-1 win over ARNOLD TOWN at Cropston Road. Jack Lane opened the scoring for the Nomads, but in a good first half for the Eagles Tom Harrison levelled four minutes before the break. But the Nomads showed their quality in a second half in which both Tom Mangan and Mason Brown scored twice.
TEVERSAL kept their lead at the top with a narrow 2-1 home win over STAPENHILL. Following a goal-less first half two goals in as many minutes from Kyle Sargent and Luke Fisher put the home side in control. But they had a nervy conclusion to contend with when Jamie Disney rattled home a penalty for the visitors in the 84th minute. But Tevie hung on to top spot and remain four points clear of SELSTON who completed a hard fought 2-0 home win over KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE courtesy of a tenth minute opener from Carl Moore and a stoppage time second from Ben Moore. And Tevie were another side who saw defeat at the semi-final stage of a cup competition, losing 3-1 to Northern Premier League high flyers Basford United in the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Cup.
At the other end of the table the aforementioned Arnold remain firmly entrenched in the three relegation spots but HOLWELL SPORTS, although still in trouble at the basement end, eased their worries a bit with a welcome 2-1 home win over BORROWASH VICTORIA. Kyle Reek steadied the nerves with a 17th minute opener followed by a second from Liam Chapman just after the half hour mark. This lead was maintained until four minutes from the end when Adrian Leszczynski pulled one back for the visitors.
And this win coupled with a 4-0 defeat for GRAHAM STREET PRIMS at WEST BRIDGFORD made it a good Saturday for Sports. Prims were looking good in their game for the first half hour, then four goals in 23 minutes hit them hard with Jack Gray scoring twice and Joshua Kwada once before the break and Kwada adding his second of the game early in the second half.
CLIFTON ALL WHITES’ excellent recent run of results came to a shuddering end at BARROW TOWN where goals from Nduoma Chilaka on 18 minutes and Ryan Kirk five minutes from the end saw them go down 2-0.
And it was similar for HOLBROOK SPORTS as Dwayne Brown on 21 minutes and Joe Meakin on the half hour mark scored the goals for GEDLING MINERS WELFARE which sent the Brookies spinning to defeat.
Ryan Smith gave RADFORD the lead on the stroke of half-time in their local derby encounter at DUNKIRK, but Daryl Thomas’s penalty on 62 minutes brought the home side back into the game and the Boatmen went on to claim the points through a Tim Berridge goal with ten minutes left.
Goncarlo Santos recorded the day’s only hat-trick with a second half threesome as AYLESTONE PARK came from behind to claim all three points on their visit to BIRSTALL UNITED. Sam Moore had given Birstall the lead in first half stoppage time. Gary Vizzard completed the visitors 4-1 win with his side’s fourth second half goal.
