In the late summer heatwave, Teversal FC Reserves made their second trip of the season over to Kirton to play the Brickies. The previous visit was for a pre-season game which ended in a 3-3 draw.
A small problem with the pitch - the penalty spots had clearly been marked in the wrong spot (fifteen yards out instead of twelve, also making the "D" at each end larger than it should be, it was pointed out to the referee before the game and he would take this into account as the club didn't have access to the marking equipment.
On the stroke of three o'clock Kirton kicked the game off and both teams made a good start, the Tevie Boys tested the Kirton keeper as Eddie Morgan tried to catch him unaware with a cheeky back heel that went just wide, and U18s keeper Sam Calpin, making his debut in the Reserves goal, was also tested early on with a couple of strikes but performed well.
In the twenty-seventh minute Teversal were awarded a penalty for a foul in the area. The referee paced out the twelve yards and Captain Nathan Flint stepped up and despatched the ball into the roof of the net to give the visitors the lead.
But that lead only lasted for seven minutes, Kirton got back in the game with a good solid strike from the near post across the keeper and into the net. 1-1.
On 43 minutes, the home side took the lead, a shot from just in the area hitting high in the centre of the goal. 2-1.
With the break fast approaching James Whitmore almost got us level straight away but the Kirton keeper saved well and cleared the danger.
However, Travis Roe proved to be the Teversal saviour eventually heading home following a Nathan Flint corner, and the Tevie Boys went in at the break level.

Nine minutes into the second period, the home side retook the lead with a similar shot to their second goal, albeit from a bit further out and on a hitnof an angle. 3-2 to the Brickies.
Following a few substitutions Teversal got back into the game. With ten minutes to play, a free kick from by the touchline was lofted deep into the area and there was Travis Roe at the back post to scramble the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the game. 3-3.
However, with the points being shared looking like a good option, a mistake by the Tevie keeper three minutes for time handed the points to the home side. Failure to clear the ball gave the attacker the simplest of chances to secure the points in their first league home league game of the season.
