Tuesday and Wednesday's Cup ties reviewed.

Cup competitions dominated in the midweek games with matches taking place in the league, floodlit and reserve league cups.
Sherwood Colliery joined fellow South division sides Hucknall Town and Selston in the semi-finals of the League Cup sponsored by Buckingham Insurance. They travelled to Derbyshire to take on Matlock Town Reserves and returned with a 2-0 win. Liam Theakstone put the Wood ahead after 29 minutes with Dale Gilliatt’s goal four minutes into the second half ensuring their place in the last four.
The other semi-finalists will be decided on Saturday, weather permitting, when Swanwick and FC Bolsover try for the third time to play their tie.

In the Phoenix Trophies Floodlit Cup, the Northern semi-final will be contested by Newark Town and Retford.
Newark travelled to Clay Cross Town for the second time in three days, having been hammered 6-0 in Saturday’s league match. The tables were turned on Tuesday however as the Notts side scored an extra time winner tie 2-1 to end the Millers’ eight game winning run. Ryan Bates opened the scoring for the home side on 17 minutes, Kieran Wall levelling things seven minutes later. It stayed that way until eleven minutes into extra time when sub Callum Thorpe got Newark’s winner.
On Wednesday night Retford won the Bassetlaw derby, beating Harworth Colliery 4-2. Harworth went in front after 31 minutes through Gary Mundy, Luke Tong equalising six minutes later. Paul Middleton and Tong gave Retford a two goal margin, but Harworth fought back, Lewis Francis giving them hope on 80 minutes. Jason Bradley settled the tie in Retford’s favour four minutes from time, scoring with his first touch after coming on as a late substitute.

The season’s first finalists are Radford who were 5-0 winners against Linby Colliery in the semi-final of the Reserve League Cup. Max Rowbotham got Radford off to the perfect start with a 3rd minute penalty and doubled the lead half way through the first period. David Hermanstein scored the third on the stroke of half time, Dan Hough and Ola Ajewole completing the scoring in the second half.

There was one match in the Reserve division, Adam Nelson and Michael Banister’s goals sealing a 2-0 win for Hucknall Town at Eastwood Community.
