Thackley make the trip to Church View Road for the first time ever on Wednesday night to play Penistone Church. Penistone are new boys to the NCE Premier Division gaining promotion via the playoffs after just three seasons in the First Division. They have not had the best of starts to the season in the league, winning just one of their seven games. However, they have done better in the national cup competitions but have now exited both in the last week. They lost in the FA Vase at Barnton on Tuesday night before a crowd of just 35, in contrast they were defeated by Harrogate Town on Saturday in front of 653 spectators.

Thackley will be still smarting from Saturday’s defeat at home to Bridlington Town; again they surrendered a two goal lead and had nothing to show points wise at the end of the game. This match will be only their third league game away from Dennyfield, and they have not picked up a point on their travels so far this season.

Thackley will be hoping to capitalise on Penistone’s slow start but like all mid week away games there are never any easy ones.
