Mick Lodge talks to the Telegraph and Argus about the spirit in club.

DENNYFIELD is a bright and optimistic place once more and the atmosphere on the terraces and dressing room is also prevalent behind the scenes.
The Dennyboys’ club captain Pat McGuire has been a spokesman for the club in recent weeks, putting the players’ point of view to the fore as Thackley have enjoyed their best season for years.
McGuire’s words were echoed this week by committeeman and former club secretary Mick Lodge.
“I’ve seen what Pat has had to say and I think he’s spot on with what he’s saying," said Lodge.
“We have been top of the league at times this season and looking at the games remaining and the points we’ve already got we’ve got high hopes that we’ll finish the season in the top places.
“Winning the league might be a bit too far for us but at one point it looked possible and that’s why we got the money together to put our application in and have the ground grading done.”
With rivals Cleethorpes Town, Pickering Town and Bridlington Town all relentlessly pushing for the title and the one promotion place, Dennyboys may have to regroup and go again next term.
However, that is not dampening the hopes and expectations at Dennyfield. Lodge added: “There’s a great spirit at the club at the moment and the players and the fans have smiles on their faces.
“We had a joint Christmas meal this time, the playing squad, the management team and the committee and it was a great evening.
“That was a very good night and the spirit within the club was clear but at the home games, when we’re away or around the club on match days and training nights everyone is upbeat.
“When it’s like that it’s a pleasure to be a volunteer because it’s all worth it.”
