Will Thackley score for the first time against the Bulls when they visit the Mitton Group Stadium at Dennyfield on Tuesday night.

Thackley v AFC Mansfield.

Northern Counties East Premier Division – Tuesday 15th August 2017 – Kick Off 7.45pm.

Thackley are at home on Tuesday night when they take on AFC Mansfield in their third league game of the season. The Bulls are pretty new to the football scene for they were only founded in 2012. After spending the first couple of years in the Central Midlands League they were promoted to the NCEL First Division. They finished second in 2016 and last season was their first in the Premier Division. Mansfield were one of the few teams that did the double over the Dennyboys last season, in fact Thackley have yet to score against the Bulls.

The start of this season again sees Mansfield in good form, having won both their opening competitive matches, in the FA Cup against Hall Road Rangers and on Saturday in the league against Bottesford Town. They are managed by the experienced Rudy Funk, best known for his time at Rainworth MW and more recently at Scarborough Athletic.

As for the Dennyboys, they got their first win and three points of the season on Saturday against Harrogate Railway in an eight goal thriller. Watching Thackley so far this season has been a bit of a goal feast, twenty in the three matches they have played, unfortunately they have let in more than they have scored. Tuesday’s game gives them the chance to score their first goal against Mansfield as well as adding further to their goal and points tally. Home points are so vital at this time of the season.

Hopefully, Thackley’s defence will regain last year’s reputation of being one of the tightest in the league and the forwards will continue scoring goals.

However, I am sure that Mansfield will provide a real test for the Dennyboys.
