Player Pics Aug 2010 Sam Hesketh Age 18. Those in the know at Thackley have high expectations of this young goalkeeper who is at the outset of his playing career. “Hesky” recently joined Thackley from Eccleshill. He is an excellent shot stopper. Playing for the West York Tom Higman Age 22. “Wiggy” has played most of his games for Thackley as a full back but claims that his best position is midfield. He is a hard tackling, competitive player with an exceptional right foot – so beware when he takes set pieces. Tom jo Callum White Age 20. Luke Richardson Age 24. An extremely versatile player who can play anywhere but cites left back as his favoured position. He has a particularly strong left foot which means that he poses a constant threat at set pieces. Known as Knuckle, Luke has many pr Matthew Morgan Age 26. “Moggi” is a very adaptable left sided player who joined Thackley in 2009 from Silsden. Although he played most of last season’s games as a left back he claims that his best position is centre forward and his ability to head Shaun Airey Age 21. Skilful central defender who combines strong tackling and heading with accurate distribution. Opponents should also be aware of his effectiveness at set pieces. “Airey” was previously with Silsden for whom he played against FC Un Robert Morgan Age 27. “Morgi” is a strong central defender who frequently scores from set pieces. James Firth Age 22. Another strong tackling central defender who joined Thackley from Dudley Hill Rangers. “Firthy” is particularly skilful with his left foot and is often deployed as the left side of a defensive trio. His pace is a significant asset Paul Maltby Age 30. Paul has taken a relatively late step up to our level of football when joining Thackley from Local Sunday Football in 2009. He is a tenacious midfield player and can be relied upon to win possession in those fiercely contested areas o Ross Daly Age 21. Ross is Thackley’s Captain Marvel because he makes our midfield operate smoothly through his hard work and distribution skills. His strengths include box to box running and arriving late in the penalty area to convert chances. Ross gr Harry Thompson Age 21. Ryan Newton Age 19. Versatile midfield player who can play both wide and centrally. He shows that he is strong on the ball with a good shot and the ability to win tackles. He joined Thackley in the close season from Guiseley having previously played for Matthew Hall Age 18. Another promising young player from which a great deal is expected. “Hally” is a hard working midfielder who wins more than his fair share of possession in tight situations. He is capable of scoring and creating goals by intelli Luke Hudson Age 22. Signed from Guiseley when new manager Dave Morgan took charge in 2009. Luke is a pacy centre forward who can be just as effective when playing out wide. Luke is quick to close defenders down which often creates panic in opponents defe Chris Simpson Age 27. A close-season capture from Silsden for whom he achieved North West Counties League player of the year in 2009/10.
Mathew Mathers Age 21. Another extremely versatile performer who is equally effective at centre half or centre forward. In his first appearance as a centre forward last season he scored a hat trick at Hallam and following that the goals just kept coming! Andy King Andy played his youth team football at Thackley and left to join Silsden. He made a welcome return to Thackley in 2009 following the accession of our current manager.
