L1's vs Amersham and Chalfont
Great performance, disappointing result!
Thame v Amersham and Chalfont. 1-2
Thame were at home for their 2nd match and took on a very young, well drilled Amersham and Chalfont side. With memories of last weeks match still fresh in our minds we went in with good confidence. Both teams were playing a good passing game and the first 10/15 mins was pretty tight. Thame’s defence was yet again strong and some great tackles by Sarah Sawery-Cookson, kept A&C out. The ball then found it's way to Vicki Dawson on the left and she managed to get past a couple of players before passing the ball across the face of goal to find Clare Harris timing her run to perfection and sliding in to slot the ball home! The biggest cheer of the match was held for the appearance of Rosie Corby who came hopping in with chair and stall to support the team! After letting the first goal in A&C came straight back at us, but more good defence from Tash McMorrow, Karen Spiller and Lizzie Atkins
kept them at bay. Thame had a few more chances but couldn't quite find the finishing touch. A&C continued to press Thame and were soon rewarded with the equalizer. Thame weren't to let this get to them and were showing great confidence in their passing, especially around the back and out. Unfortunately just before half time A&C managed to find the back of the net once again to make it 1-2 going into the second half.
The second half was more of the same from both teams, great passing, movement and attacking play. Thame were able to bring on some young blood in the second half and it was great to have Emily Seed and Lizzie Archer showcase their pace and skills. A&C had numerous short corners awarded to them, but amazing defensive play kept them out. Thame tried to find the equalizer, but just couldn't find a way through. We all can hold our heads up high after another great display and can go into next weeks game against Wallingford with lots of confidence.
MOM: Chopper Harris!
