2nd League outing and another spirited performance
Thames on the road again and another loss
Possibly not the best way to travel for just the 2nd game of the season but Thames very extremely depleted in selection this week but yet they travelled with 15 players. Amongst their number was Jack Price recently discharged from hospital but prepared to stand up and be counted for his team and Ryan Lucas one of the clubs sponsors not having played for many years offered his services originally as a sub but played a full 80 minutes.
As Thames took the field it was clear the players were united in their goal and that was to play some good rugby and give the best account of themselves that they could. For the whole 80 minutes they battled hard and took the game to their hosts playing their part in an exciting game of rugby. Once again the score reflected a large margin for the home side and without a doubt Harwich and Dovercourt played some very good rugby, their line breaks where well drilled and at pace, their set piece organised and controlled, yet Thames also matched their hosts in play and determination.
Price was giving his all but after 25 minutes of play in the first half he was spent and had to take time out from the game to recover, however this didn't deter Thames as they rallied to the challenge. Thankfully Price was able to return to the game at the start of the second half showing again his passion and desire to play for his team. Thames determination never failed them and on the 21st minute of the 2nd half James Going was released well inside the Thames half and sprinted clear under the posts from a good phase of play. Rhys Dell made easy work of the conversion adding to Thames points.
Another game where Thames were on the wrong side of the score line but again as in the previous league match they asserted themselves well and showed that as the season goes on they will only get stronger. Man of the match was awarded to Ryan Lucas for his excellent contribution to the game, upon turning up and finding out he was playing a full game he got stuck in and made a mark on the game.
