Thatcham Tornadoes girls U10 friendly vs Tilehurst Panthers

We had a fantastic turnout of 13 players for the match this saturday. A keen mix of new and experienced players who were all determined to play their best right to the end.

The 20 minute halves, were new to the girls and they were thankful for the opportunity to have a breather as they were rotated on and off the pitch.

Goalkeeper for the first half was Kate, who showed great enthusiasm for the role and communicated brilliantly with the first defenders Sukie and Jessica. The defence was strong and helped prevent the opposition breaking through to score. Sadie and Catherine positioned themselves well in the midfield, running tirelessly to provide endless challenges. Upfront chloe and charlotte showed great skill and teamwork, calling for the ball and making several attempts at the goal.

Daisy soon joined the players and made some excellent passes, selflessly including other members of the team. When Poppy came onto the pitch she comfortably held off her challengers, making excellent on the spot decisions and calling for the ball appropriately.

Bo took over from Sukie in defence, clearing the ball repeatedly and challenging the opposing attackers. Sophie, Tamsin and Scarlett joined the game towards the end of the second half and brought some much needed energy to the pitch. Sophie tirelessly ran to position herself sensibly in order to support her team players and challenge the other team. Tamsin took confidence from Bo's experience and began to challenge the attackers, whilst Scarlett succesfully won several challenges and positioned herself well to support her teammates.

In the second half the girls went from strength to strength. Chloe was in goal and made a couple of great saves. All girls had the opportunity to play and both Charlotte and Daisy scored fantastic goals.

I'm incredibly proud of the girls and how well they played, but I am most impressed by their fantastic, positive attitudes, determination and positive regard for one another. I think we are going to have a great season, with our experienced players supporting the development of our beginners and building some great friendships.
