EVO-STIK League Southern Premier Review
A round-up of Saturdays EVO-STIK League Southern Premier fixtures.
Both AFC Totton and Brackley Town are three from three in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division following Saturday`s round of matches. Newly-promoted Totton eased past Swindon Supermarine at home 4-0, with Nat Sherborne completing a second half hat-trick in the 77th, 82nd and 90th minutes after Mike Gosney had broken the deadlock 4 minutes before the opening goal. Brackley were in even better goalscoring form, hammering Bedford Town 7-1 at St James`s Park. Jefferson Louis and Tom Winters both bagged braces, with Michael Chennels, Elliot Sandy and Steve Diggin all netting singles – Manny Richardson scoring an 86th minute consolation for the battered Eagles. Both `Marine and Bedford are point-less so far after the opening three matches, as are Cirencester Town, who were beaten 1-0 at the Corinium Stadium by an Oxford City outfit, for whom this was a first victory. Felipe Barcelos scored the only goal of the game for Mike Ford`s side on the hour-mark. Cambridge City, Leamington, newly-promoted Frome Town, Stourbridge and relegated Redditch United remain unbeaten after Saturday`s games. Cambridge and Stourbridge shared a goalless Milton Road draw, while Frome were also held at home by fellow promotees, Arlesey Town. Ricky Hulbert gave the home side a 23rd minute lead, but the Bedfordshire outfit turned that round to a 2-1 lead with goals from James Gray after 29 minutes and Chris Dillon 10 minutes after half-time. However, 10 minutes from time Hulbert rescued a point for Darren Perrin`s men with his second of the game. Leamington eased to a 4-1 New Wimdmill victory over a Weymouth side still to register a win. Tom Berwick bagged a quickfire brace in the 16th and 17th minute, although Stephen Reed pulled the Terras back into the game just 3 minutes later. Stefan Morley added the Brakes` third with less than 4 minutes to go, but there was still time for Berwick to complete his hat-trick in time added on. Redditch, meanwhile, beat a Hemel Hempstead Town side who also have yet to taste victory this season. Lei Brown scored the only goal at the Valley Stadium after 26 minutes. St Albans City, also relegated, made it two wins from three games after Solomon Shields` 56th minute effort eventually proved enough at newly-promoted Barwell, while Chippenham Town are also on six points after a similar scoreline at Hardenhuish Park against Chesham United, thanks to Steve Casey`s first-minute goal. Hitchin Town, who came up from Division One Central, went down to their first defeat, new loan signing Elliott Durrell`s 66th minute goal earning visiting Evesham United their first win. Banbury United also secured their first victory with an excellent 3-0 win at Bashley, whose first defeat this was. The goals came from skipper Liam Dolman after 14 minutes, on-loan Aaron Woodley on 38 and Will Green - his third in as many games – 8 minutes into the second half.
