The Death Of Tony Levick

Tony Levick

Tony Levick (88), of Linton, who retired as a successful Maidstone accountant, made a major contribution to the Kent and local community through his voluntary support for cricket and his parish council.

He was long-term treasurer of Kent County Cricket Club (1976-1987 and 1992-1998) and has been praised by current club chairman Simon Philip for his contributions when ‘the role was far more onerous and he gave a huge amount of his time.’ He was appointed club President in 1998 and was an honorary life member. The county flag flew at half mast on the first day of Kent’s final game of the season at Canterbury.

He played most of his cricket as a wicketkeeper/batsman for The Mote Cricket Club and was captain from 1965/72, which included the launch of the Kent League the club has won six times, twice during Tony’s club presidency from 1992 to 1999. For more than 20 years he was chairman of trustees of The Mote ground.

He was deeply involved in the life of his home village, serving as chairman of the parish council and he also played for the village cricket club.

Professionally he joined the family accountants Levicks with branches still in London Road, Maidstone and Broadstairs.

Tony, who died suddenly at home, was predeceased by his wife Pat and is survived by his daughter Sally, son James, five grandchildren and two great grandsons.

The funeral will be at Linton Church on Friday Sep 29 (2.30) followed by a gathering at Tony's house in Linton. Funeral directors are Viners, West Malling.
