End of season nerves hamper a good result.

The ladies were away at York playing their 2nd team. Thirsk started with some very nervous players with the prospect of promotion within touching distance. Making a lot of unnecessary errors it took a while for the Thirsk girls to settle into their mojo! York knew they had a job to do and gave Thirsk a run for their money from the first whistle!
Thirsk pressed well and an open goal opportunity soon came their way but was converted to a penalty opportunity due to some over zealous defending from York! Up stepped Skipper Hannah Rogers and delivered the text book penalty flick. Thirsk kept the winning momentum up and were soon awarded a short corner! Captain Hannah steered the team in the right direction and Bea Bell hammered it home!
The first half finished at 2 - O with Thirsk displaying some great use of the triangle play but York proving very strong in defence and keen to catch up on the score front.
The second half started with both teams eager to to display their dominance! York scored first then from a short corner Kathryn Barrett gracefully made the score up to 3 - 1. Despite some strong saves from Thirsk keeper Val Grainger, York managed to bag a further two goals in quick succession making the final score a three all draw. Thirsk have their work cut out next week as an away win against Selby will be crucial in clinching their league promotion. Player of the match was awarded to central defender Summer Marshall.
