The firsts travelled away to Leeds for an important clash to allow the team to look up the table rather than down. The 1s started the game well and pressed Leeds back into their own half to squeeze the team and force them into errors. This worked with great success within the first 5 minutes as HC managed to drill a ball across the front of the goal mouth with such pace that every man and his dog missed it and it fell to BS at the back post who couldn’t believe the ball ended in the back of the net. The 1s continued to dominate and penetrate the Leeds back 4 which inevitably led a second goal being scored in the first half by AH. You can decided what AH stands for but it was the centre forward that slotted home nicely. Leeds managed to regain a bit of composure towards the end of the half but offered very little threat.
The second half began and Leeds came out stronger, pressing higher and eventually managed to score a goal. Thirsk replied within a couple of minutes and managed to regain that 2 goal cushion. Leeds continued to press and with Thirsk coming to the downward slope of their fitness the pressure began to build and Leeds eventually scored another. The 1s managed to hold onto a well fought win and go home for a long, relaxing pub session.
