After a delayed start we experienced a pretty evenly balanced first half. It was only after an amazingly placed flick at goal by Jack Holland that put us 1-0 up did our morale increase, finishing the first half of the match with our heads up, we started the second half in the same spirits. The first five minutes or so were hard work, as Wakefield had obviously found something to boost their morale and were running a continuous line of attacks at goal, but each attempt was expertly stomped out by our brilliant line of defence. Luckily this potential threat was extinguished quickly by Joseph Shannon who scored a brilliant one on one with the keeper after an expertly conducted counter attack, formed by a clearance from Sam Youmans to Charlie Whitfield who then slipped the ball to Jack Holland who went on to pass the ball to Joseph to finish the job.
It all went down hill after that for Wakefield not ten minutes afterwards Joseph scored again, which was another result of a well timed counter attack. As an outcome of this goal, frustration was running high in the Wakefield team and a spat broke out between one of our players and one of theirs, this resulted in their player receiving a red card which turned the odds ever more in our favour. And finally to seal the deal Josh Gabbot scored a fantastic fourth goal after a gorgeous cross across the Wakefield D by William Granger, final score 4-0.
Not a bad start to the season, well done boys.
