A proud bunch of boys and parents left the pitch following a successful day’s hockey from the U12s “A” Squad at Leeds on Sunday (30th March 2014).

The squad of 8 comprising Tim Durkin, Ben Hall, Tom Hall (GK), Edward Hildreth, Henry Houseman, Archie Lawson, Flyn Mullins and Sam Nichol, put on a “Mother’s Day” performance not conceding a game. We all wish Ollie Dale a speedy recovery and hope he is back on the pitch soon.
Thirsk V Harrogate 1-1 (Scorer Flyn)
Thirsk V Adel 2-0 (Scorers Archie and Flyn)
Thirsk V Wakefield 2-1 (Scorers Archie and Edward)
Thirsk V Leeds A 0-0
Thirsk V Airedale 3-0 (Scorers Tim, Henry and Flyn)

Following promotion into the “B” Division the boys took to the pitch with a positive attitude. After a slow start in the Harrogate game they dominated the second match against Adel with the ball not even entering Thirsk’s D. Wakefield took us on next with two 4-0 victories under their belt to finish quiet on the sidelines after we slotted two in the net finishing with a 2-1 win. The boys played well against Leeds – our toughest opposition of the day. Well done to Tom on his debut game keeping calm and confident on the back line. Our boys were on top form and peppered Airedale’s goal in the final match taking the score to 3.0 and leaving little for the defence.
The team manager stated: "I am really proud of you boys. You played real team hockey and supported each other on the pitch, being organised for corners, taking hits quickly - one taken so quickly by Flyn that we’d scored a goal before the opposition woke up. You were a pleasure to manage. I am waiting for confirmation from the League but hope you finish B League Runners-Up a well-deserved title after Sunday’s performances and perhaps a rude awakening to some of the teams as we’d only just been promoted to the division. You boys are back to the higher divisions against quality teams where you deserve to be.
I hope to see you all back at Club in September where you will move up to the U14s B Team playing 11-aside on a full pitch. Please keep your fitness up over the summer the games will be a stamina test. Enjoy your summer and good luck to those representing North Yorkshire."
