Joseph and Dan, both members of Thirsk hockey club, were in the NE England U13 teams at the National Tournament in Nottingham the weekend of 11th and 12th June.
Dan represented the B Team who made it to the 3rd/4th play-off match in the Trophy competition which they won and thus finished 3rd. Dan made some outstanding saves and should be proud of the way he inspired his team.
Joseph represented the A Team who made it to the final by beating NW England in a thrilling 2-1 win. Sadly they lost to South Saxons (South England) in the final but that meant they were runners up in the Championship, a great achievement. Joseph was up against boys who were in some cases 3 school years above him.
Very proud of them both.
The tournament was exceptionally well run and was a great experience for both of our players (who have 1 and 2 years respectively left at that age group). There is every intention of sending a couple more boys from Thirsk to trials next year.
