Bob moved to Bishops Stortford in 1963 and through his habit of a pint or two at the Coach and Horses met friends who played cricket at the local club, Thorley C.C. He first started playing in 1964 and soon had the whole family involved, Marge making teas and the girls doing the scoring. His son and two of his grandsons (pictured with Bob Senior) continued the tradition of playing for the club. His commitment to the club as a player, umpire, and as a Chairman and Vice President lasted the rest of his life and he would be proud that in his death donations in his memory will help move the club to the next chapter.

Many of our senior members remember Bob with great fondness as he encouraged them throughout their cricket career.
