After another successful home victory over Brian Hawkin's Trophy opponents Baildon, Thorne move on to their first away game of the season with a long drive north-west to Skipton. Having been promoted a few years ago, Skipton have been in the league performing well since. With one win and one loss under their belt, Skipton are historically strong at home, and will be a challenge for a Thorne side look to rectify a poor away form whilst in Yorkshire 2. A strong forward performance last week will be the keystone to another victory making it three wins on the bounce, along side stellar performances defensively, with the lads yet to concede a try up to this point in the 38-0 win, a credit to the hard work in pre-season.
Despite another away loss for the 2nd XV, the 17 guys who went away to Barnsley can hold their heads high. 6 months prior, the Development XV lost 66-0 against the Griffs after a very tough day at the office with a scratch 15. Fast forward, with several pitch length breaks from Barnsley's 1st XV players returning from injury, a more solid team performance from Thorne meant the side grabbed two tries and a penalty to lose the game 47-17. This week sees Thorne host their first opponents of the season with Hallamshire travelling to the village. The Sheffield side have ne win from one, after beating Rotherham Phoenix 2s last week 0-27.
