Thornenesians bounced back from their heavy defeat to Goole to defeat Leodiensians at home by 31-11. Thornensians went into the lead through a rare try by consistent second row Rob Raper but slow Thorne defence allowed Leos to reply soon after with a try of their own. 5-5 after 10 minutes. The returning James Fenwick in the back row and hooker Chris Hewitt were both lively in the loose, Fenwick held up over the line. Second row Tom Hughes injured 31st minute, player coach Neal Dunne comes on. Following excellent passing Thorne winger Ross Haley scorched in for a try from a move begun 60 yards out. Thorne's pack bossed the scrums and the loose rucks. Fenwick marks return to first team action with a deserved try in the 33 rd minute, stand off Rob Brown covnverts . Half-time Thorne 17- Leos 5. Leos commanded territory in first 10 minutes, converting a penalty as Dunne was sin-binned, 17-8 to Thorne. Captain Stuart Hughes injured 50th minute comes off, Zak Holgate who has had several barnstorming runs from full-back moves to centre, right wing Tom Ambler goes to full back.
Leos right wing scores in the corner but is adjudged by Leos own touch judge to have put his right foot over the line. Minutes later Jones produces a great try saving tackle on their left wing a yard from the line. Jones having a good game with some astute kicking. Leos have the momentum creeping back. Dunne returns as Leos slot over another penalty to close the gap to 6 points at 17-11. Thornensians Flanker Aaron Holt has been causing Leos problems all game with big breaks and it's no surprise that he's involved in 3rd try along with prop Martin Moffatt and scrum half OJ Rothwell as speedy prop Adan Smith powers over for a try under the post, Brown converts score 24-11. Holt's involved again in Thorne's next try receiving the ball from a Hewitt break he gallops towards the line before delivering to centre Ollie Cox who glides in for Thornensians 4th try ensuring a valuable bonus point to boot.
