Thornes U11's Beaten By Strong Methley

Different week, different opponents but same work ethic. Thornes Juniors U11 knew it was a huge ask to overcome their opponents Methley and so it proved however the main thing was that the team ran and ran their socks off.
Methley made the brightest start and were 1 up in the first minute. This didn’t deter Thornes and they continued to battle all through the half with all the players putting in a good shift. Thornes were 4 0 down by half time but they had their moments especially Jospeh Brook who made one glorious individual run down the wing beating 3 Methley players before his cross was blocked for a corner.
Thornes made changes in the second half and they made a couple of chances especially with the pace of Lewis Poulson who on a few occasions was just too fast for the Methley defence but unfortunately no one was on the end of any crosses. Methley piled on the pressure and were 8 up before Thornes got what they deserved, a goal. It was Joseph Brook again who dribbled down the right and beat three players before cutting the ball back for Kassey Diabassey to shoot. It was well on its way in but Alfie Beadnell stuck a boot out and ensured it crossed the line and for his first goal of the season. Thornes were not done and after a penalty box scramble the ball fell to Ethan Train who calmly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home. Methley ended the game with a ninth goal for the final score to be Thornes 2 Methley 9.
The best effort awarded went Akeem Miteh who ran his socks off and got some tremendous tackles in and the SPA Air Conditioning Man of The Match went to Joseph Brook for his great runs and link up play.
