Thornes came into this game looking to return to winning ways and started brightly against Tingley. The game settled down to a very tight almost scrappy affair as both teams looked to gain control. Thornes managed to begin to exert some pressure on Tingley, forcing a series of corners. Eventually this pressure told after 20 minutes. Iwo Waszyk picked up the ball near the bye line and managed to pull it back for Alex Nolan who coolly finished to give Thornes the lead. Thornes managed to hold this lead going in to the half time break despite Tingley creating several chances.

Into the second half and it was Tingley who came out with purpose. The Thornes centre back pairing of Konrad Krok and Breann Ferati had to work extremely hard as Tingley piled on the pressure. Half way through the second half the lively Tingley attack created their best opportunity yet as they fired a shot goal bound which brought an amazing save from Thornes keeper Ellis Pickard who tipped it round the post. This stunning save seemed to rally Thornes who battled hard to retain their slender 1-0 advantage as the half went on. Both teams fought hard but it was Thornes who managed to managed to hold on take the three points. Final score Tingley Athletic 0-1 Thornes Juniors.
