Thornes Juniors U16 overcame a very difficult first round Garforth League Cup tie at Garforth league Div 1 side Colton Juniors with a well deserved 3-2 victory.

Thornes scored in the first 2 minutes with a penalty taken by Luke Mcgrath after the same player had been fouled in the penalty area. A second was added ten minutes later when a strong probing run on the left by Eddie Morton was pulled back and crashed home by NEWSTRACK NEWSAGENTS man of the match Alex Bailey Lee.

The home side pulled one back just before half time and equalised with a well taken free kick half way through the second half.

Thornes however grabbed a third shortly after with an excellent second goal for Bailey-Lee when he instantly controlled the ball, beat his defender and slipped it over the advancing keeper.

Bailey-Lee and Ethan Harrison were excellent for Thornes along with Luke Mcgrath and James Parkinson, in a performance well marshalled by skipper Callum Harnell.
