Thornes overcame Colton Juniors by 3-2 in the last match of the season.
Thornes gave all their fit players a run out against a very competitive Colton team. It took Thornes a good while to create their first good chance of the game, when Caleb Batley released Joel Blackburn with a great through ball - he scored after cutting in from the left and sending a shot into the bottom right corner. Colton came back well and equalised just before half time from a headed goal.
The second half saw the game open up a bit more and Thornes regained the lead soon after the break. Joel put in a cross from the right which was powerfully headed in by Joe Brownlow. Again Colton came back and scored a fine team goal which was finished with a spectacular curling effort into the top corner from 25 yards. Thornes raised their game again and Callum Wilkinson started the move that lead to the winner. He took a quickly taken free kick to release Joe Brownlow, who looked certain to score but was denied twice by the keeper before the ball came out Joel to smash into the roof of the net.
The whole team were given the man of the match award for their all round effort to ensure the season finished on a win.
