rhinos challenge thornhill Trojans juniors

The cream of the countries junior rugby league teams met at the weekend in Skegness Butlins to compete for the Leeds Rhinos Challenge Shield.
Seventeen teams from all over England competed in the under 9’s competition which was won with a fantastic performance by the Thornhill Trojans U9’s A team.
The closely contested final against West Bowling was watched by a large contingent of friends and family from Thornhill, who saw strong running from Mason Haigh, Alfie Howley, Charlie Blacka and Tom Metcalfe, the speed of Ethan Purcell and William Lister and distribution of Bailey Hargreaves helped Tyler Jowitt to a hatrick of tries. The moment of the match was a brilliant try saving tackle from Toby Lumb to secure a famous victory by these super league stars of the future.
Ex professional Robin Jowitt head coach, his staff and team would like to thank Thornhill Poor Estate Charity, Mullaco Foods and the many local businesses for their support without which the children wouldn't have been able to compete.
