Final home game of the season for the 1st XV

On Saturday Thornton welcome Littleborough for their last home game of the season. High flying Littleborough are just 1 point behind 2nd place Ashton and must win to stay in with a chance of promotion. Littleborough will be bringing a coach load of support so all those not involved in playing are asked to come and cheer on Thornton. Every voice will help come kick off.
TC are coming off the disappointment of losing to local rivals Garstang. As always with this squad the attitude to put things right has been spot on and I for one am confident of an upset.

The front row that dismantled Garstang stays intact. Pete Keay starts again at loosehead after his MOM last week. I keep the 2 shirt and Powerhouse James Gorrie is relishing another battle with the Littleborough front row. In the 2nd row Tom Bailey is partnered by Ralph Clarke. Ralph has been incredibly unlucky with injury this year but watching him in training this year its clear he is a very talented player. The back row see's one change. In form number 8 Mike Docherty is away so Simon Hoddinott moves from 6 to 8. Captain Brannigan starts at 7 and Loughborough student CJ Barber starts at 6. CJ is another player I am very excited about. He has an excellent work ethic and a skillset to match.

In the backs there are a couple of positional changes. Ellis Wolstencroft comes in at scrum half. Dan Orwin will be pulling the reins at fly half. Rob Meekins starts at 12 and is in red hot form at the minute. Ryan Haywood gets the nod at 13. The back 3 has pace to burn. Firecracker winger Pete Ashton starts along with Will Gardner, the side is completed by Ross Mellor-Clark at full back.

On the bench big hitting Dean Finegan covers prop, Dom Griffiths covers just about every position in the pack and Sean Donnelly will be covering the back line.

Saturday is a chance for us to really lay down a marker with our style of play. A big upset is on the cards if we work ourselves until we drop.
Roll on 3pm.
