Steffi Burt named in training squad for World Youth Championships

Thoroughbreds GS Steffi Burt is one of 22 athletes named in the England U21 training squad for the World Youth Championships due to be held next year.

The Championships will be held between 22nd and 31st August 2013 at the National Indoor Sports Arena in Glasgow. England will be looking to improve on their finish at the previous championships in 2009 when they lost out to Australia in the semi-finals.

The athletes currently selected for the training squad are below:

Rosie Allison, Stephanie Burt, Sophia Candappa, Eleanor Cardwell, Beth Cobden, Sam Cook, Shaunagh Craig, Amanda Davis, Honor de Winton, Francesca Desmond, Jodie Gibson, Layla Guscoth, Natalie Haythornthwaite, Hannah Joseph, Olivia Mason, Lauren Massey, Jordan Moxey, Rachel Mulloy, Yasmin Parsons, Rachel Shaw, Alice Travis, Kathryn Turner

There will be additional opportunities for selection into the squad throughout the year.

Taking charge of the team will be experienced ex-England International Colette Thomson with Jess Garland as the assistant coach and Sam Castle being appointed as team manager.

Steffi's selection follows her involvement with the successful England U21 squad that returned undefeated from the recent Netball Europe Tournament.
