THRUMPTON CRICKET CLUB

Minutes of meeting held on

Tuesday 30th August 2011 at

The Pavilion Thrumpton

Present: Rae Shaw (Chair), Steve Pick (Secretary), Jordan Thelen, Steve Weightman, Mark Sampson,

Stuart Basford, Mark Priestley, Ray Smithson

Apologises/Missing: Gurdev Singh, Dave Fowkes, Steve Pepper, John Richardson.

Matters Arising:

Jordan Thelen and Mark Sampson have sorted out the kit bags. One kit bag in the changing room and all other kit bags in the loft.

The cost of the coaching courses is £165.00 each. E-on have sent a cheque to cover the cost of the courses. Darrel Samuels has informed the club that he is available for coaching for next season if required.

John Dewsbury has received handbook.

Groundwork:

The club has obtained a 2nd hand grass cutter from Richard Shepherd at a cost of £100.

The roller has been repaired.

Steve Weightman has ordered the loam for the end of the season – approx cost is £252.00

The netting problem has been solved.

Pavilion Matters:

The youth kit has been sorted.

Ray Smithson has said that there are two lockable storage spaces available under the seating in the home changing room.

Stuart Basford has received a letter from the City Council stating that there will be a collection charge of £5 per bag of rubbish due to it being classed as none domestic collections – will be discussed at a later date.

Fire extinguishers have been checked and passed.

Ray McDonald (Electrician) has stated that the main junction box for the electric fence is irrepairable – this needs to sorted out straight away – Ray Smithson/Paul Burns to sort out

Playing Matters:

The 1st XI needs a miracle to get promoted. If the 1st XI are promoted then the committee need to resolve the financial situation regarding the umpires etc – to be discussed at next meeting.

The 2nd XI are already promoted but need 14 points to become champions.

Mark Sampson and Dave O’Neal have been asked to attend a disciplinary meeting at The Willow Tree Public House on September 8th 2011 at 7.30pm with regards to incident regarding Kimberley CC.

Trevor Vennett-Smith has sent an email to Stuart Basford stating that he was upset with the outcome of Sunday fixtures being cancelled etc – Steve Pick to respond.

Ray Smithson has said that Jeff Moore from Wilsons CC (his son is currently at Wollaton CC) wants to leave and go to a new club. His son is 25+. Ray to speak to Jeff Moore and advise his son to attend the winter nets.

Fixtures:

Adam Pick has stated that he will captain the side for 10th September 2011 against West Bridgford British Legion.

Nick Proverbs has stated that he will captain the side for 17th September 2011 against Beeston/Toton Sycamore.

Next season T20 competition to go ahead against possibly 2 new teams – Paul Burns to sort out fixtures

The U13’s & U15 Super 8 to go ahead – Paul Burns to check with league committee

It was suggested that the U13’s play on the artificial wicket on a fortnightly basis and the U15’s play on the grass (weather permitting)

Treasurers Report & Funding:

The club is now going in the right direction – now operating at a loss of £818.00

A donation has been received from A W Lymn on behalf of Dave Gant.

Two club members are taking part in the Nottingham Robin Hood Marathon – any money raised will go to the club.

The Race Night – posters have gone up in Clifton, Gotham & East Leake. Current tickets sold are 55, but more expected on the night. Food for the night is going to a Nose-bag plus salads, samosas, etc.

Youth and Kwik Cricket:

A U13 fixture has been arranged against Wollaton at home on 6th September 2011 starting at 4pm

Steve Weightman said that the remaining ball sponsors should be carried over to next season. These need to be used first.

Paul Burns said that TVS has given the club two cricket balls to use in friendly matches to test and report for next season to see if the league are going to change sponsor.

Paul Burns said that some more club caps are required.

Jack T has been nominated for U11 County Team
