July 29th saw a new player in the Thrumpton team

Not sure if he was there to keep the team on the good Lords side but the Reverend FB Charlesworth was talked into making up the eleven for the afternoon.

In the low scoring game bowlers were the pick of the day, M Lomas taking six for Thrumpton and Walter Mottershead replicating the feat for the Nomads.

Walter Mottershead, a Joiner Carpenter was always a thorn in the Thrumpton teams side and in later games he was persuaded to cross the river to turn out for the riversiders.

2nd August 1919 Barton v Long Eaton Bourne Church played at Barton

Bourne were away to Barton last Saturday and suffered their rhird defeat. Batting first Bourne were all out for the very modest total of 26 - by far their lowest score of the season.

To S Bream of Barton, who took eight of the Bourne wickets, the honours must be given.

Barton started disastrously, four of their wickets being down for 5 runs, but Bream again came to the rescue. He had several "lives' during his stay, but his Innings of 11 was certainly the turning point of the match. Hood bowled well taking 7 wickets for 26 runs for Bourne.
