Badgers Win Gotham 6 a side at Festival Week

11 months ago By Mark Sampson

Thursday night saw Thrumpton's 6 a side team crowned Champions of the Gotham CC Festival Week 6 a side competition.

The competition on began on Monday night with the group stage with the team of Jack Towers, Joe Richardson, Ben Clark, Lewis Wales, Gav Huskinson & Josh Scully taking on teams from Kegworth & Kimberley.

In the first game against Kegworth, Thrumpton posted a total of 74, in reply Kegworth were 33 for 4 from their 5 overs.

Game 2 against Kimberley saw the Badgers bat first again, this time posting 72 from our 5 overs. Kimberley in reply posted 52 giving Thrumpton a 21 run victory and seeing us through to the semi final.

The semi final took place on Wednesday night with Thrumpton facing Clifton Village, a few changes to the side saw Greg Pick, Adeel Arshad, Wasim Rana & Adam Pick come in for Ben, Lewis, Jack & Josh.

Once again the Badgers batted first and posted 61 from their 5 overs with Clifton dropping 3 catches. This proved costly as the Badgers ended up winning their Semi Final to make it through to Thursday nights final.

The other semi final saw Kimberley knock out hosts Gotham.

So onto the final on Thursday with just 1 team change that saw Jack Towers come back into the side for Adeel. The final itself is held over the longer version of 2 innings of 5 overs.

This time Kimberley batted first and posted 50 in their first 5 over innings, Thrumpton in reply then post 58, giving the badgers an 8 run lead.

Kimberley's 2nd innings though only saw them post 35 run which meant that Thrumpton needed just 28 runs to win the Tournament, something they did with an over to spare.

Well done to all the squad that took part this week form the groups games, semi final and the final. Well done boys!
