Saturday sees the visit of the Bishop of Southwell to the ground for the game against Ruddington. So what can he expect to see down at the ground.

The lads from Ruddington come here for the league division H game. The village is the envy of all cricketers as there is a pub on just about every corner except one and there you find an iconic chippy.

We're not quite sure if John Marriott is playing but with the wind in the right direction last week he could be heard at Thrumpton marshalling his defence whilst playing in goal over at Clifton.

Plants by post have delivered 5 cracking tubs with the theme on the Olympics and the Jubilee and they are made up with a variety of red, white and blue flowers ready made for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. They have also supplied a couple of dozen Geraniums and these will be planted today. We thank Plants by Post for their continued support of the club and their website can be found by clicking on their logo to the right.

Add to this we have a Thrumpton legend Steve Pepper returning to Umpire the game. Born and bred here, he is one of only a few these days that comes with with a full Thrumpton pedigree certificate. Known as the Complete Angler he was renown for his fishing skills down at the river where he caught many a 1lb Roach with just a bit of line and his big toe. As you can see in the picture below, sitting and training in his fishing position on the edge of the pavilion waiting for the fishing season to begin. It is believed Dickie Bird modelled himself on the "Pep"

Finally thankyou to another Village Pedigree, Rosemary Small who sponsors tomorrows matchball. The ground is looking absolutely awsome after Richard Wilkinson gave the outfield another cut.

All in all a cracking day for the game
