With today being World Left Handed Day - a day to celebrate all things left handed we thought we'd have a look at a Thrumpton Left Handed XI!

1) Steve Weightman - We start off with the Club's all time leading run scorer. Although the play cricket stats don't have all of the scorecards on, Steve current has 4503 runs to his name with 26 fifties and 4 hundreds.

2) Martin Weightman - Following his Dad is Martin who although now playing for Clifton in the Notts Prem still has 1523 runs on our play cricket site with 10 fifties and 3 hundreds.

3) Joe Richardson (c) - Where else would you find the current club captain with his 4179 runs, 23 fifties and a single hundred, also we're all pretty sure that will become more than one soon. He is also 2nd on the all times runs list hoping to overtake Steve at the top.

4) Tom Rye - At number 4 is Tom Rye who although has only played for 7 season and the last 2 have only seen him turn out 12 times, he still managed 2681 runs with 14 fifties and 5 hundreds.

5) Naren Pandurangan - At 5 is Naren who despite not being the most prolific scorer is always there when you need him. Naren has 646 runs in his 8 seasons with the Badgers.

6) Dave Gant (w/k) - At number 6 is the sides wicket keeper and a legend who unfortunately is no longer with us. His legacy lives on in so many players who have progressed through the club. Dave in the 1997 season took 16 catches and 7 stumpings for the 1st Team.

7) Andy Pick - Our current 3rd team captain Andy Pick is in at 7 having started his career at Thrumpton before going on to become a professional with Notts. He's now back bringing through the next generation.

8) Ron Priestley - Another legend at number 8 with left arm bowler Ron Priestley, one of only 2 Thrumpton players in history to take 10 wickets in a match! A feat that may never be duplicated by anyone else in a Badger shirt.

9) Mark Sampson - Current Left Arm swing bowler Mark Sampson is at 9 having played for the club for 14 seasons now, although only having take one 5 wicket haul, he is however number 3 in the all time wicket takers list with 192 victims.

10) Inam Malik - Former 1st team bowler Inam is at 10, which is actually where he sits on the all time leading wicket list. Inam was the mainstay of the bowling attack for several years in the late 90's and early 00's.

11) Billy Lavelle - At eleven is Billy Lavelle who worked his way up from the juniors and having just returned from Australia is back for another spell at the club. It is recognised that Billy may well have the strongest handshake at the club.

Other Lefties

Harry Priestley - Although not in the main eleven I'm sure in a year or two time Harry will be on this list as he follows in his Grandpas footsteps with his left arm bowling, although he does also claim to be a batsman!

Asif Haq - Having only joined the club in the summer Asif already has 439 runs to his name in just 11 games with 4 fifties.

Todd McQuilkin - The former 1st team wicket keeper was a very vocal part of the 1st team in the 00's. He even captained the side for a year or so!

If anyone has any other names that want adding to the list please let us know!
