After a run of ELEVEN games without defeat the Thrumpton KWIKs finally suffered their first defeat of the season.

Friday night saw the Thrumpton KWIKs travel to Shepshed Town for the penultimate round of matches this season.

Having won 10 out of 10 so far confidence was high and first up was a game against Grace Dieu Park.

Thrumpton fielded first and picked up some good early wickets as they restricted GDP to just 210 for 5 from their 9 overs.

In reply Thrumpton were quite simply too strong as they finished on 261 for 2 from their 9 overs.

Next up was a game against Kegworth who only had 6 players so a couple of loans from Thrumpton were arranged to make it an 8 a side game.

Thrumpton batted first but some good tight bowling and field restricted Thrumpton to their lowest total of the season, just 225 for 2 from their 8 overs.

In reply Kegworth got off to a terrible start as they lost 4 wickets very early. But some good batting, which allowed them to find the boundary eventually saw them finish on 228 for 4 from their 8 overs.

That gave Kegworth victory by just 3 runs but it also meant that Thrumptons 11 game unbeaten run had come to an end.

Despite the defeat the kids played fantastically well and really are a credit to the club. Thanks again to the fantastic support of all the parents!

There is just one round of fixtures left as we travel to Kegworth on Friday 8th August.
