Match Preview

The Solihull Barons make their final trip of the season to Telford Ice Rink this Saturday. There will be all to play for after the points were shared with Tigers NIHL on their first visit in a 5-5 game.

Recent results have not gone the way of the Tigers. Last week they threw away a four goal lead to Sutton Sting and currently lie bottom of the Moralee Confernce.

Solihull, however, travel to Telford full of confidence on the back of two wins; one away in Blackburn and the other at home to Deeside Dragons.

Coach Daniel Mackriel remains upbeat despite results not going his side’s way; “The last few weeks have been tough.  We have been in the mix in our games, but we are going through patches where we switch off and start conceding goals.  This really needs to change and although it’s very frustrating, I still believe in the players we have here.”

Looking ahead to this weekend’s fixture with the Barons, Mackriel added, “They have lots of talent in their forward line up and a defensively sound group at the back, which is rubber stamped by two very good keepers. The Barons work very hard in all areas of the ice.  If we want to get something out of the game then we need to better their work rate, play smart and simple.”

The game takes place on Saturday 29th October at 5.30pm at Telford Ice Rink.
