Dockers lose to Play off hopefuls

Tilbury suffered another 2-0 home defeat top play off hopefuls Heybridge Swifts.
The game saw manager Paul Vaughan field 4 of his academy players on the substitute bench, as the season draws to a close.
The visitors started strongly with Jamie Guy having two good chances in the opening 15 minutes and Reece Harris having his cross frantically cleared.
Heybridge took the lead just before the half hour when a corner from Barber found Frank Everett who headed home from 3 yards into an empty net. Within a minute Reece Morgan saw his effort well blocked by Marrable as Heybridge dominated. Tilbury's first effort of the half fell to Emmanuel Folarin right on half time when he when he was in front of goal from a Waters ball, but saw his effort deflected away for a corner.
The Dockers started the 2nd period much determined and looked the side to score next. Wixon went close on 52 when he shot wide. Scorer Everett saw his 70th minute corner well punched away by Marrable as it was going towards goal. Tilbury had a good finish to the game with Wixon, Christou and Waters all having good efforts with 15 minutes remaining, whilst Waters curled a shot agonisingly wide from 18 yards with twelve minutes left. With 3 minutes remaining Obersteller played in Robbie Farrell who left his team mate frustrated when he blazed over.

Heybridge survived a difficult period but made the game safe in the first minute of added time, cleared and attacked with Harris counter attacking that left three on two, Harris passed to Neil Cousins who side footed home under the body of Marrable to seal the points. .

The result leaves the Dockers in 18th place and the injury ravaged Dockers now travel to Walthamstow on Saturday to play relegated Waltham Forest before a home game 2 days later at home to Cheshunt.
