Mitchell signed for Canvey, from local rivals East Thurrock United in January 2016 as a midfielder, but has gone on to an attacking role, scoring 21 times last season, seeing his side making the play offs. He won the Players' and Supporters' Player of The Year awards and also named in the Bostik North team of the year. Overall he made 139 appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals.

Mitchell is a familiar face at Chadfields, as he played 5 times for the club in 2013/14 season scoring twice.
