Tilbury went out of the Essex Senior Cup at Redbridge on penalties.

The Motormen hosted Tilbury in the Essex Senior Cup Quarter Final and were hoping to gain revenge for the two league defeats inflicted by the Dockers earlier in the season.
An early chance for Rigers Kabashi saw him pick the ball up and skip past a challenge finding himself bearing down on goal with just Clarke Bogard in goal to beat but his effort was hit too close to the Tilbury goalkeeper whom was able to make the save.

Another good chance followed for the Motormen when Jay Knight released Carlos Espirito-Santo who took too long to find his feet and the ball was turned away for a corner however Tilbury failed to clear the the danger and the ball landed at the feet of Joe Gent who although was dragged out wide he still managed to get in his shot which beat Bogard to give the home side the lead after 15 minutes on the clock.

Tilbury were doing their best to get back into the game but they seemed to have left their shooting boots in the changing rooms as several of their efforts went well off target. Of the one chance where they did manage to get through Callum Chafer in the Redbridge goal was quick off his line in thwarting the attack.

A continuous decision followed when the Tilbury keeper escaped a red card as he appeared to chop down Knight just outside the box after Berkcan Belkindir had put over a lovely ball. From the resulting free kick Bogard was needed to be at his best to palm away a delightful effort from Kabashi.

Tilbury's best chance of the game then came when captain Matt Game connected to a cross but Chafer made a flying save to deny him and Neil Richmond's effort shortly after went just wide of a post.

The match was being played at a very quick pace with neither side backing down and it made for an entertaining game of football and it was the away side who got themselves back level when a foul on Emiel Aiken saw a free kick awarded which was taken by Tony Martin and his cross come shot evaded everyone in the box and crept past Chafer at the far post.

Tilbury started the 2nd half strongly as they went in search of a winning goal and It was only the heroics of Chafer in goal that prevented it when he was on hand to make a superb double save as he threw himself in front of two fierce shots on goal.

The home side were now finding it difficult to get out their own half as Tilbury continued to press forward but they were defending well putting their bodies in front of every shot that came at them.

A lengthy injury to Bogard saw an additional 5 minutes of injury time played before the referee blew his whistle and with no extra time to be played the game went straight to a penalty shoot out.

Tilbury missed their first attempt by Danny Glozier and although scored their next one from Jack Carlile, Chafer became the penalty hero as he saved the 3rd kick from Emiel Aoken and it was then left to debutant James Holland to put this side into the semi-finals finals where they will now travel to Heybridge Swifts.

The Dockers are back in league action on Saturday when they travel to Witham Town.
