Sawbridgeworth Town 0 v Tilbury 2

The young Dockers travelled to Sawbridgeworth Town for the second time in a week and again took the 3 points. Both teams had different line ups from the previous week, the Dockers gave debuts to Charlie Whalley , Jamie Bacon, Ryan Plom and Garron Leatherbarrow due to injuries. It was Tilbury who started the brightest with wingers Ryan Blackman & John Atmore creating early chances for Ben Smith & Omar Adwah who worked the Keeper. John Atmore was causing a real problem for Sawbrideworth who were finding it hard to deal with the winger. Ben Smith had three great chances to put Tilbury in front but some good save from the keeper denied him. The Back four of Ben Crooks, Jake Pooley, Luke Pitty and Charlie Whalley dealt with all that Sawbridgeworth had to offer. The midfielder partnership of Mitchell Curren and Jake Fry started to boss the game and the deadlock was broken inside 20 minutes when Omar Adawh latched on to a through ball to lob the keeper for 25 yards. Tilbury did dominate until the break, but a mix up from Whalley, gave Sawbridgeworth a chance but the shot was save by the Leatherbarrow.
The second half started off at a real pace seeing Sawbridgeworth giving it a real go at trying to level the game. Five minutes in Tilbury made a change bringing on striker Cassum Tiffin for goal scorer Omar Adawh who picked up an injury. Within ten minutes Tilbury were forced into a second change when keeper Garron Leatherbarrow picked up a groin injury, so saw striker Cassum Tiffin take the gloves and Ryan Plom made his entry. Under 18 Jamie Bacon replaced Charlie Whalley as Tilbury reverted to a 4-5-1 formation. This was to be a testing time for Tilbury but the Dockers back four & midfield stood strong and again started to take hold of the game. Tilbury again made three good chances where Atmore, Smith & Fry but failed to convert. Mitchell Curren played a through ball to on rushing John Atmore who’s fierce left foot shoot was tipped onto the post from the keeper. The Sawbridgeworth team’s frustration boiled over when their striker kicked out at Jake Pooley and was dismissed with ten minutes to go. Within two minutes the game was put to bed when Jake Fry slotted home from a John Atmore cross.

Mick Jacobs Quoted
“Today’s game again highlighted some areas we have to work on with the players. Our decision making in the final third, wasn’t good enough and the players know that. The amount of chances we create is insane and the game should have been well and truly over by half time. Besides that we worked hard as a team and defended really well. The spirit in the team is good at the moment and it’s another three points which keeps our unbeaten run going in the league to eight games.
