In a howling wind, neither side could take the advantage in a goalless draw.

Tilbury 0 Maldon and Tiptree 0 (Att 48)

Tilbury's excellent run now extends to 14 matches undefeated with a goalless draw against Maldon and Tiptree at a blustery Chadfields. Tilbury had the wind behind them in the first period
An early Emiel Aiken cross caused problems, before the visitors had a good chance on 9 minutes when Darren Mills took advantage of a defensive slip to get in a bouncing cross cum shot that home keeper Clarke Bogard just managed to grab. The home defence was almost breached after 15 minutes when Darren McQueen beat the offside trap only to see Bogard deny him.
Both sides were having trouble dealing with the swirling wind with many passes and corner kicks being wasted as the ball was often played harmlessly out of play, although Matt Game did turn in one excellent ball towards the visitors goal but no forward was able to get a touch. Goal scoring chances were few and far between although the visitors were thankful to keeper Shaun Phillips to deny Kurt Smith twice towards the end of the half, firstly when the forward got on the end of a fine through ball and Phillips got down well to block the shot then again when the keeper came out quickly to block another shot with his legs. The uneventful half took a turn for the worse for Maldon and Tiptree right on half time when Keiran Monlouis was sent off for violent conduct after a melee in the centre circle that took the referee sometime to deal with. The result of it saw the sending off and the cautioning of 4 other players.

The home side started the second half against the wind and coped better than expected with the wind in there faces. A great run from Smith that took him from the left touchline into the visitors goal area, but his shot was just blocked. Tilbury's best effort came on 66 minutes when a cross from the left by Aiken found Neil Richmond who saw his effort brilliantly saved by Phillips. Maldon also had a fine effort with 12 minutes remaining when they broke quickly an the ball fell to McQueen again and his effort was well tipped wide by Bogard. Late in the game Dockers main threat Kurt Smith saw his a low shot cleared from in front of goal. In the final seconds Francis Babalola saw his shot from the edge of penalty area edge saved by Phillips. Both teams had to settle for a point in a game the sides put in plenty of effort, against the strong wind that spoilt any chance of this being other than a hard slog.

After the game Manager Gary Henty commented “I was pleased with the effort from the boys. We had our chances. We look forward to Saturday's meeting with Harlow Town in good spirits"
