Tilbury's second half of the season revival saves them from relegation and leaves them in a better position for next season!

When Paul Vaughan took over he was a rookie manager at this level and despite doubters he proved everyone wrong as he done his job by keeping Tilbury Football club in the Ryman League. Despite up and downs in the season Paul Vaughan second half of the season was better and the more exciting part of the season with great wins against Grays Athletic, Harlow Town and other sides near the top.

AUGUST 2010
The first game of the season come on the 21st August away to Heybridge Swifts, and the new season was finally here and Paul Vaughans first game unfortunatley ended in defeat after conceding a 20th minute goal, before Bobby Port was sent off. However, despite things not looking great no one could expect what happened three days later when league favourites Needham Market visited Chadfields and got beat by 3 goals to 2 as two goals from Ben Boyce and a goal from Harry Cook sealed the first win of the season for the Dockers. Things were going strength to strenght in the club as the set-up behind the club was much better with four EJA sides and the right people in and around the club. Tilbury played Uxbridge away in the FA Cup and came away with a 1-0 win thanks to an early second half goal from Ben Boyce and some superb saves from goalkeeper James Marrable. Tilburys much anticipated and highly highlighted game against Grays ended in dissapointment as they lost 3-1 away as despite Jack West scoring his first goal, Imbrahim Conteh was sent off for two yellow cards.

SEPTEMBER 2010
In September, Tilbury struggled to find form and had 6 defeats in 7 with only a win away to Cheshunt the highlight of the month. Things were turing sour for the Dockers as Jack West would be out for 5-6 months through injury and Ben Boyce was suspended for most of the month. The month started off with Potters Bar at home but subsquently ended in a 2-1 defeat, before Ware beat Tilbury at home 1-0. The second qualifying round of the FA Cup approached and was against Essex Rivals Billericay Town of the Ryman Premier. Tilbury played well infront of a big crowd but Harry Cook was sent off late on killing Tilburys challenge in the game and ending the Dockers FA Cup dream. Tilbury than lost to play-off chasers Enfield Town (4-0) and Wingate and Finchely (2-1) both at home. Before going away to Cheshunt, Tilbury were laying near the bottom at the time without an away win. But again, Paul Vaughans men done the unexpected by beating Cheshunt 2-1 away thanks to goals from Port and Conteh. Tilbury ended the month with a 3-1 defeat away to highflyers Thamesmead Town who would eventually finish one place above Tilbury.

OCTOBER 2010
Tilbury travelled South to Fleet Town in the FA Trophy, only to get beat 3-1 despite Joel Etinne-Clarke giving them a good chance in the match they conceded three goals to Dyer to give Fleet there pass to the next round. The dissapointment of the defeat saw new arrivals in the backroom and in players. The next game was already a six pointer against Leyton which could see Tilbury rise up the league as they did with a 3-0 win. Nathan Gordon scored in the first 8 minutes before late strikes from debutants Michael Toner and Paul Tiffin sealed a good home win for the Dockers. Tilbury travelled to Romford on Tuesday night in the cup and got their second win in three days when despite Romford taking the lead, a Harry Cook and Marc Clarey header gave Tilbury the win in the cup. However, things turned again with three defeats to end the month against local rivals Maldon Town and Brentwood Town at home in between a defeat away to Great Wakering.

November 2010
Tilbury started the month with an home tie against Aveley in the Essex Senior Cup from the Ryman Premier. Despite Tilbury taking the lead twice in this game, they eventually concede three late goals losing 5-2. Local rivals East Thurrock and high flying Thamesmead followed at home but two defeats despite not being deserved followed. Tilbury looked to turn the corner with a 1-0 away win against Leyton thanks to a goal from Michael Toner and a draw at home to Cheshunt which could have been so much more. The month ended dissapointly with a 2-0 away defeat to play-off chasing Wingate and Finchely despite dominating the game, Donovan Wilson was sent off which ended Tilburys challenge in the game before conceding two goals.

DECEMBER 2010
Despite four fixtures being scheduled only one could be played due to the bad weather which was a poor performance which ended in a 4-0 defeat away to Waltham Abbey. The game was only going one way but could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for James Marrable in the Dockers goal.

JANUARY 2011
January brought a new Tilbury side out with similar players but a different attitude and it worked with the eagerly awaited game between Grays Athletic and Tilbury at the Chadfields. Julian Dicks men found thereselves 3-1 down with debutant Ben Bradbury scoring twice and Chris Taylor got another one before Thomas hit back in the last minute of injury time to give Dockers a vital and historic win. Tilbury travelled to Suffolk to play top of the league Needham Market looking to be the first side to take six points off the leaders, and do local rivals East Thurrock a favour. However, despite Tilbury creating plenty of chances they conceded two late goals in the first half before Michael Toner hit a 25 yard free kick into the top corner to give Tilbury a chance back in the game. Tilbury searched for a win at home to Heybridge and a good performance ended in defeat when despite Tilbury taking the lead twice in the game and the scores being 3-3 in the fourth minute of injury time Heybridge nicked it with a last gasp goal in the game stealing the points from Tilbury. Tilbury ended the month in style with three wins over Harlow Town with goals from Harry Cook and Jack West before a win in the East Anglian Cup against Essex Senior League Champions 2-0. Before ending the month with a 2-1 win against lowly Ilford thanks to goals from Sam West and Ben Bradbury.

FEBRUARY 2011
Tilbury could have been unbeaten this month if luck was more on their side and they could have taken there chances. The month started well with a win over Waltham Forest by one goal from Ben Bradbury. Before going away to play-off contenders Maldon Town, Sweeney gave Maldon the lead before Aaron Matthews equalised for the Dockers with time running out Maldon earned a fortunate penalty and Ollie Berquez dispatched the penalty to snatch the points for Maldon. Tilbury than sent Great Wakering packing as they easily beat them 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Billy Crowther, Hulusi Mustafa and Harry Cook. Tilbury carried on there decent run with a 1 all draw away to Redbridge due to a late goal from now Redbridge striker Manlee Brown. However, the Dockers ended the month with two defeats away to Brentwood Town and AFC Sudbury.

MARCH 2011
March was the best month for Paul Vaughans side and was unlucky to lose manager of the month to local boss John Coventry. Tilbury started off the month with a 3-0 win away to play-off contenders Romford with goals from Harry Cook, former Tilbury captain Ben Turner own goal and Steve Good sealing a great away win of the season. Tilbury put in the performance of the season when they played away to East Thurrock United, Tilbury lost 3-2 despite finding thereselves 2-1 up at half time with goals from Jack West and Ben Bradbury before two late goals including a 91st minute winner from East Thurrock. The only poor note of the month was a 2-0 defeat at home to Redbridge which followed before a good point away at AFC Sudbury on a Tuesday night. Tilbury went unbeaten to the end of the month with an away win at Waltham Forest with goals from Bradley Barnes and Ben Boyce before a 3-3 draw against Romford which Tilbury were 3-0 down with 30 minutes to play before Conor Mead and two goals from Ben Bradbury including a last minute penalty which was won by goalkeeper James Marrable to save a point for the Dockers. They ended the month in style with a 2-1 home win over midtable side Waltham Abbey to revenge for the 4-0 defeat in the reverse fixture. Ben Bradbury and Aaron Matthews scored either side of an Abbey penalty.

APRIL 2011
Tilbury needed one win to make them safe and there hard work was rewarded when they beat Ilford 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Steve Good and Ben Boyce. However, the good times ended there as the final league table could have been much different only to see Tilbury lose their final four games to Harlow, Ware, Potters Bar and Enfield to see Tilbury drop back to fourth bottom.
