Tilbury lost by a single goal at Harlow Town on Saturday in a game that will be remembered for some bizarre decisions by the match officials.
On a bright afternoon at Barrows Park, Tilbury went in this important game unchanged from the previous Saturday's draw at Needham Market. On the bench was returning striker Danny Francis from injury and included another academy prospect Joe Christou.

Early on a dangerous Cutler free kick caused concern in the home defence. On 18 Shamir Mullings fired from distance that went just wide of the right hand post.

On 21 Tilbury thought they had taken the lead when Waters sent the ball through to the onrushing Mullings, who beat Brown to the ball put the ball in the net only to see the referee blow for a foul.

Aiken fired just over on 37 from a Rimmel Daniel cross as Tilbury dominated the game. Early in the second half Tilbury still had trouble breaking down the Harlow defence and only got in close once when Aiken again had a good chance. The first controversial moment of the second half was when Daniel got to the byline and the ball ran out of play, the Harlow defender kicked out at Daniel in full view of the referee who took no action leaving the player on the floor with blood pouring out of his mouth.
On 71 the game turned on a highly controversial and bizarre moment when Harlow keeper Bossu came out to punch the ball away, he collided with the onrushing Mullings head, the ball then fell to Sam Cutler who's effort on its way to goal was parried by the keeper whom was outside of the box and the ball hit the back of the net. Once the ball hit the net the referee blew with the assistant flagging for what seemed to be offside. After consultation the referee he sent the keeper off and awarded Tilbury a free kick. Video has shown this was the incorrect decision.
Despite the home side being down to 10 men, they never gave up and were rewarded in the final minute when Piers Wixon picked up a long ball and from just inside the box unleashed a super strike giving James Marrable no chance.
Tilbury were angry to be hit by the sucker punch so late in the game they dominated for large periods and suffered some bizarre decisions. Tilbury are considering reporting incidents to the Football Association.

After the game coach Mark Edwards commented "We dominated the game and to be undone by some poor refereeing decisions is a bitter pill to take. We will bounce back at Ware on Tuesday"

The result sees Tilbury in 9th position and 11 points outside of the play off places. Tilbury travel again this Tuesday to Ware 7.45pm kick off.
