Tilbury went down by a single goal to play off hopefuls Thamesmead Town on Saturday. Manager Paul Vaughan again rang the changes with games continuing to flow. He made 7 changes from the 1-1 draw in midweek at AFC Sudbury.

On a good playing suffice in front of Thamesmead's new impressive stand, the game started quietly with Baff Addae having some good early runs, but being dealt with well by Ryan Blackman. Tilbury had a chance on 11 when a scramble in the box fell to Danny Francis who stabbed wide. 6 minutes later a Sam Cutler corner found the head of Ben Crooks who headed just over the top.

Tilbury attacked well and looked to be the likelier of the sides to score, but on 22 Thamesmead scored against the run of play when Tilbury did not clear there lines. Hopkins hit the ball into the box, Carter poked the ball across the face of goal for the unmarked Zanone to hit past Marrable.

The Dockers had a great chance just before the break when Wraight played the ball into the box and Cutler hit his shot into the side netting. Tilbury created their first chance of the half when Joe Christou produced a fine pass to play in Francis, but keeper Budd rushed off his line to make a fine block. Tilbury continued to create half chances and on 63 thought they were level when Joynes crossed for Francis who's header hit the inside of the post and fell to Crooks who stabbed home, only to see the offside flag.
Seconds later Rimmel Daniel was inches away from equalising, when he hit a low right footed shot past post from outside the area. Tilbury maintained their pressure but could not score the all important goal.
With 11 minutes remaining, Thamesmead should have increased there lead when Rob Carter went through after a mistake by Gillman but only drilled past the post.

In the final minute substitute Gordon-Young was put through and saw his effort hit the underside of the crossbar.

After the game Coach Mark Edwards said: "It was a good performance from the boys. We played some excellent football at times and gave Thamesmead a hard time and could have come away with a point"

On Monday, Tilbury welcome another playoff hopeful Heybridge Swifts with a 7:45pm kick off.

Tilbury: Marrable, Blackman, M. Joynes, Crooks, Gillman, Christou, Daniel (Nightingill 74), Carlile, Francis, Cutler (Henty 52), Wraight (Matthews 46).
